La Quinta, CA

Revised: 8/22/18 -- Nestled next to the beautiful Santa Rosa Mountains near the Salton Sea, is the picturesque City of La Quinta; this year’s location for the 2018 Feast of Tabernacles in Southern California! With a dry warm climate, the City of La Quinta is rich with history and recreational opportunities. Located about 130 miles, northeast of San Diego, southeast of Los Angeles, the City of La Quinta, California (not to be confused with the hotel chain by the same name) affords easy flight connections from most major airports in Southern California, especially Ontario or Orange County's John Wayne, Airports. La Quinta is also very close to east-west Interstate10; yet is tucked away from the urban centers; making it an ideal place to observe God's Feast, including budget friendly accommodations at the Embassy Suites!

In the late-19th century and early-20th century, agriculture developed in present-day La Quinta California; or better known as the "East Valley" with many date palms, farms and a variety of fruits and vegetables still grown in abundance today. While farming is part of the valley’s economy, in 1926, Walter Morgan established the La Quinta Resort at the northern section of Marshall Cove as a secluded hideaway for those seeking a dry climate for recreation, rejuvenation and relaxation, with mineral pools, warm temperatures and golfing or access to off many road, desert or mountain places to explore.

Today, the attractive City of La Quinta, meaning “country house” still continues to be that comfortable place to do all of the things it is famous for, with many great restaurants, as LG's, one of the best steakhouse eateries my wife and I have been to. There are interesting museums, galleries and world-famous PGA golf courses or shop the afternoon away at the El Paseo Shopping District in Palm Desert. Venture out to the Living Desert with exotic wildlife at its best. You will find venues to serve most anyone's needs and tastes.

Festival activities for the entire family include a pizza lunch (with salad) & bowl on Family Day with good clean fun for singles, children, teens and the whole family. Plans are to rent 3 hours of unlimited bowling in up to 28 lanes depending on our size of group, with lunch and plenty of Church family fellowship at the PSLanes in Cathedral City.

On Tuesday evening is our "welcome" festival dinner - dance, with live 13 person band "Smooth Touch" for live music during dinner and for our dance. Singles can meet & greet preceding the dinner-dance outside the main Ballroom at their reception. Also scheduled during the Feast, is our Senior's, DELs, First and Last Day Luncheons; and a family evening of fun -- Dinner & Movie -- with games too. Check the on-line schedule tab above for more information as it comes available.

Thursday afternoon of the Feast, amid the comfortable dry temperatures, a tour is shaping up of the "Oasis" at the San Andres Fault Line, plus Joshua Tree National Park. Take a short walk on into the canyon at the fault line; and then on to Joshua Tree National Park with many unusual sites for picture taking.

Tours are via air conditioned motor coaches, with open air hummer transportation provided at Joshua Tree National Park. Pick up is at the Embassy Suites with a stop on our return at Pioneertown's famous movie set, before our "no host" barbecue dinner at the famous "Willey Boys Saloon" in the beautiful evening for dinner, then return to the Hotel. Pioneertown was founded in 1946 by a group of Hollywood investors, including actors Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. They dreamed of creating an Old West set that was actually a town worth visiting; and years later, more than 50 films and television shows were filmed there in the 1940s and ‘50s.

The right balance of things to do together and on your own, La Quinta has something for everyone. Click the "Attractions" or "More Info" tabs above for a wealth of what to do or where to eat in the area. UPDATE: after October 1st you can ride on the famous tram to the top of Mount San Jacinto where you can see the valley below from 10,834 feet high. Used in a number of movies, the tram, even if you have done it before, is an exceptional activity to experience again. Keep in mind it is closed for maintenance beefore & during the Feast but reopens after the Feast.

Or, enjoy fine meals at the great restaurants in the valley, to suit most any taste or just relax around the pool. La Quinta is also still close enough to visit the popular surrounding area entertainment venues in Southern California, such as Legoland, Disneyland & Knott's Berry Farm, including the great beaches on the beautiful Pacific Ocean. See the links on right side of this page!

As we gear up for inspiring spirit filled messages, lots of fellowship and great activities, be sure to register quickly. This year the Embassy Suites Hotel and Resort is our host venue with quality accommodations at very reasonable prices.

As well, you can also book "on your own accommodations" at great places as the Homewood Suites (with LCG rates up to August 23) and or in the many condos available in the local area. This is also a good way to enjoy the feast as our host Hotel fills up; because each offers great features too. La Quinta is loaded with nice places to stay! Especially in the beautiful gated PGA West community, with flowing water streams, ducks to feed, golf course and the many swimming pools, very close in; but still in La Quinta CA. Be sure to understand deposits and cancelation clauses when you book. There is plenty of additional parking at the Feast meeting hall at the Embassy Suites if you stay off site.

The Embassy Suites Hotel is now full except for cancelations. Call to check and is an exceptionally clean hotel & spa, beautifully furnished 2 room suites and many amenities, if available. The Homewood Suites still has space but the LCG rates end this week August 23.

Treat yourself to "suite life" including a fully cooked to order breakfast and afternoon hospitality reception for each guestHard to beat, as children are free! More adults may also stay in the suite or upgraded suites are available while these last, both for an additional charge per night. There is a 10% discount at the Hibiscus (full service) Spa for Living Church of God attendees, a business center and fitness center, are all on-site for your convenience. This family-friendly all-suite hotel also has a swimming pool & whirlpool; pool table & game room; and is across the street from Old Town La Quinta and its many shops, within easy walking distance. Plus, no cost for parking.

On our recent visit there we were greeted with smiles, great service and warmth. My wife and I have stayed in La Quinta several times and it is one of our favorite places. With low humidity and temperatures of 90's during the day and 60's at night, it will be great weather for the Feast of Tabernacles!Embassy Suites Please click the "Accommodations'" tab above for additional information. Come to worship God in this beautiful place at the 2018 Feast of Tabernacles in La Quinta California. Looking forward to seeing you all!
