For the third time, the Feast of Tabernacles in Tanzania will be held at the Monarch Beach Resort west of Tanzania. The Resort is situated on a private lakefront beach in Nansio, the capital city of Ukerewe.
Ukerewe is the largest island in Lake Victoria, as well as the largest island in Africa. Monarch Beach Resort is one kilometer from the Ferry Terminal to the west. From the Monarch Beach Resort one can take a motor bike to a village located under the banana and orange trees; you can also go to the Halwe Viewpoint, the highest point on the island with rocks and caves. From the rondo viewpoint, you will be able to view Mwanza city in Tanzania, Entebbe in Uganda and Nairobi in Kenya.
The shoreline of Ukerewe Island is carved into numerous bays and it is dotted by 38 small islands, with 3 of them unoccupied by humans and the rest 35 are occupied by fishermen and their families. Part of the activities there include local fishing, canoeing, biking and village tours.
Few other sites include agricultural activities in which the residents farm maize, sweet potatoes, millet, cassava and rice.
Feast services will be conducted in the Monarch Beach Resort as well as meals services to all Feast goers.
This site is not open for transfers. For additional information regarding the Feast at Ukerewe, click on the various tabs at the top of this webpage or contact the Festival Coordinator.
